Boulder Rights of Nature Public Program: "Losing the Dark"
October 22, 2019 –
BRoN will present our autumn public program: Dark Skies or Spotlighted Skies?" October 22!
Doors open at Meadows Branch Boulder Library at 6:15 PM and program begins at 6:30 PM.
Free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
Carolyn Petersen, who created "Losing the Dark?" for IDA (International Dark-Sky Assoc.) will present her 4 minute video and talk about light pollution.
Richard O'Brien of IDA will display recommended street lighting and available resources, including the lighting demonstration of full cutoff fixtures.
Scott Severs will end with a treat: his photos of night insects.
A panel of the 3 presenters will conclude the program with an open conversation with the audience.
BRoN is specifically interested in what effect night light and light trespass have on Nature and what we as members can do to mitigate the harm.
As well as how to enjoy star & planet viewing in Boulder County!
